James Ralph Coleman, 93, of Lynchburg, died Tuesday night February 12, 2013 at his residence. He was the husband of Betsy Lee Ratcliffe Coleman for 65 years.
Ralph was born in Appomattox County on Nov. 20, 1919 a son of the late Mary Martin and Royal Judson Coleman. He was a lifetime member of Trinity United Methodist where he served as a Trustee, on the Administrative Board and as the Appomattox Circuit Treasurer. Ralph was an Army veteran of World War II, with duty in the European Theater. He was a retired buyer for Bailey Spencer Hardware Co.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister, Virginia C. (Polly) Inge of Lynchburg; his brother, Kenneth E. (Red) Coleman and wife, Dot of Appomattox; sister-in-law, Cleo R. Coleman of Lynchburg and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Thomas H. Coleman, R. Martin Coleman and A. Harwood Coleman; sisters, Elizabeth C. Reynolds, Gladys C. Coleman and Alice C. Martin.
Funeral service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, Concord, on Friday February, 15, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Larry Mann officiating. Burial will follow in Rebecca Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home today (Thursday) from 6:00 to 7:30 pm and at other times at the residence.
