Obituary

Appomattox: J. Allen Clapp, 89, of 1110 Cedar Tree Rd., died Sunday, July 9, 2006 at his home. He was the husband of the late Alice Rachel Mayberry Clapp.
Born in Gibsonville, NC, February 22, 1917, he was a son of the late John McHyne and Ruth Tickle Clapp. Mr. Clapp was a retired farmer and building contractor and was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church. During WWII he assisted in the building of Ft. Belvoir and Camp Pickett.
He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Doris C. and Maynard Bean of Midlothian, Ruth C. and Harold Bane and Brenda C. and John Franklin; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary A. and Sandra Clapp all of Appomattox; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Daniel A. and Hope Clapp of Richmond and B. Earl and Mackie Clapp of Monroe; a sister and brother-in-law, Alice C. and Clayton Martin of Lynchburg; four grandchildren, Charlotte M. Justis and her husband, Chip; Rachel A. Franklin, Elizabeth T. Franklin and Jamie M. Bane; three great grandchildren, Nathan, Blake, and Kinsley Justis and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Richard, Enid, John, and Hugh Clapp.
The family will receive friends Tuesday at Robinson Funeral Home from 4:00 – 7:00 pm.
A private burial will be held on Wednesday.
