Henry Wellington "Billy" Conner, 77, of Lynchburg, formerly of Appomattox, died Friday, October 6, 2006, at his residence. His wife was the late Betty Kidd Conner.
Born February 12, 1929 in Appomattox Co., he was the son of the late Wellington H. and Verna Ferguson Conner. Billy was a member of Fort Hill United Methodist Church and a retired postmaster and letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service at the Appomattox Post Office. He was a member of the Appomattox Town Council serving from 1985 to 1995, worked as a real estate agent with Century 21, and was a member of the London Downs Senior Golf Association. Billy served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He is survived by his daughter, Jane Conner of Lynchburg, and his son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Beverly Conner and their two children, Brittany Conner and Brandon Conner, all of Forest.
Graveside funeral services will be held in Liberty Cemetery, Appomattox, Monday, October 9, 2006, 2:00 pm, by the Rev. David Rash.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home; however, the family will meet with friends and relatives immediately following the service at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Fort Hill United Methodist Church Building Fund, 106 Oakridge Blvd, Lynchburg, VA 24502.
