Howlett Fuller Drinkard, Jr., 85, of Lakeside Drive, Lynchburg, died Thursday, September 14, 2017, in Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Arlene Greiner Drinkard.
Born in Appomattox County, Va., on June 6, 1932, he was a son of the late Virginia Elizabeth Martin and Howlett Fuller Drinkard, Sr. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a veteran of the US Army. Howlett retired from Barker-Jennings as a manager in the shipping department.
He is survived by a son, Anthony Louis Drinkard of Washington, D. C.; two brothers, W. Clifton Drinkard and wife, Betty and Donald L. Drinkard both of Appomattox; a sister, Arlene D. Poss and husband, Mike of McGregor, Texas; a niece, Kimberly Neighbors and husband, Burnett; two nephews, Jay Poss and wife, Jan and Allen Poss and wife, Kristine; and a large extended family.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at Trinity United Methodist Church by the Rev. Larry Mann and the Rev. Randolph Martin. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service and other times at the residence.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church Building Fund, 4901 Oakville Rd., Appomattox, VA 24522 or the American Cancer Society, c/o Sharon Mobley, PO Box 1084, Appomattox, VA 24522.
