HOWARD L. ROSEN, Sr.

Howard Lightfoot Rosen, Sr., 83 of Mt. Rush Highway, Dillwyn, died Sunday January 15, 2012 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Ruby Scruggs Rosen.
Howard was born in Buckingham County January 22, 1928 a son of the late Mary Garett and Henry Rosen. He was a member of Union Baptist Church for 25 years and presently a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he served as an inactive deacon. Howard retired from Centel with over 45 years of service in the telephone industry.
He is survived by his children, Rev. Howard L. Rosen, Jr., Dillwyn; Dianne Catlin (Michael) of Lynchburg; brother, Franklin Rosen (Virginia) and sister Phyllis Seckman (Cliff) all of Richmond; three grandchildren, Stuart Rosen (Niki), Travis Rosen (Karen), Angela Moss (Derek); five great-grandchildren; step-children, John Scruggs, Jr. (Patsy); Ronnie Scruggs (Kim) all of Dillwyn; Steve Scruggs (Phyllis) of Keysville; Trisha Gallamore (Chuck) of Buckingham; six step-grandchildren, Tracy Shumaker (Shane), Jay Scruggs, Rachel Whitehead, Ashley Scruggs, Meagan Scruggs, Brittany Gallamore and five step-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a step-grandchild, "Bo" Scruggs.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday January 18, 2012 at Robinson Funeral Home with The Rev. Jimmy Dunn officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service beginning at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday.
