On Thursday, December 24, 2009, Howard Eugene (Gene) Ferguson, Sr.'s, heavenly father said "come on home My son, you have fought a good battle".
Born in Appomattox County, August 18, 1941, he was a son of the late Howard Marshall and Odell Mayberry Ferguson. Gene was a member of Bible Baptist Church and retired from Babcock and Wilcox after 38 years. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Deloris Anne Litchford Ferguson; a son, Howard Eugene (Skebo) Ferguson, Jr. and fiancée, Colleen Nakamura all of Appomattox; two grandsons, Brandon Scott Ferguson of Appomattox and Chris French and wife, Lynleigh of Gloucester; a granddaughter, Heather Ferguson of Bryan, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Christopher, Caleb, and Cayleigh French of Gloucester; a brother, Wayne Ferguson and his wife, Hazel; and a sister, Nancy F. Litchford all of Appomattox.
He was preceded in death by three children, Steven, Richard, and Angela Ferguson.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, December 27, 2009, at Bible Baptist Church by the Rev. Robert E. Lee, Rev. Carlton Duck, Rev. Ken Jenkins, and Rev. Randy Fish. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, from 2:00 -4:00 pm at Bible Baptist Church and other times at the residence, North Ave., Appomattox.
