Horace David Jobe, Sr., 90, of 7633 Richmond Highway, Gladstone died Tuesday. June 14, 2005.
Born in Nelson County, April 9, 1915, he was a son of the late William Richey Jobe and Minnie Estelle Akers Jobe. Horace was a lifetime member of Gladstone Memorial Baptist Church where he was active on the Social committee. He was a retired employee of the C & O Railroad with 35 years service. A Navy Veteran of World War II he served in the Asiatic-Pacific and European-African Areas. He was a member of the Clinton Masonic Lodge #73 A. F. & A. M. of Amherst.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eubelia Spencer Jobe; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan Jobe Walker and David of Appomattox; two sons and daughters-in-law, Horace David Jobe, Jr. and Jane of Rice and John William Jobe and Wanda of Appomattox; five grandchildren, Steven C. Mason, Jr., Jacob B. "Jake" Jobe, Zach K. Jobe all of Appomattox, Mary Clifford Jobe and Whitney M. Jobe both of Rice; a brother, William Richey Jobe of Lynchburg and a sister, Ruth Jobe Givens of Newport News.
The family wishes to acknowledge special friends, Mary Dixon and Billy McFadden for their devotion to Horace.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 16, 2005, at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. James N. Williams with burial following in Gladstone Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7-8:30 p.m. and other times at the home of John and Wanda Jobe, Woodlawn Trail, Cedar Knolls, Appomattox.
