Herman Cleveland Wingfield, 94, of Pamplin died Wednesday, February 27, 2013 in Lynchburg General Hospital. Born in Appomattox County, on January 14, 1919, he was a son of the late Charles Andrew Wingfield and Martha Jane Godsey Wingfield. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Terry Wingfield and all of his brothers and sisters. He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews and a special caretaker, Charlotte S. Price.
Herman was a member of Elon Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon and coached the church softball team. He was retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation.
Visitation will be held at Spring Creek Baptist Church fellowship hall, Darlington Heights, VA at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 2 followed by a graveside funeral service in the church cemetery at 2:00 p.m. conducted by Rev. David Sexton and Rev. Steve Tyree.
