Obituary

Herbert Christopher Garrett, 71, of Hundley Springs Rd., Appomattox, went to be with his Savior Jesus Christ on July 11, 2012. He was born in Appomattox County, March 20, 1941, a son of the late Thomas Abner and Mary Robertson Garrett.

He is survived by his daughters, Martha (Fleming) Moore, Bernadine Garrett both of Appomattox and Christie (Ryan) Russell of Clarksville; his beloved grandchildren, Jordan (Dave) Sparnfoft, Taylor Moore and fiancé Skylar Shupe, and Caedmon, Justin, Athan, and Holland Russell; a brother, William T. (Mary Ann) Garrett and David T. Garrett, Sr. both of Evergreen; a sister, Mary E. (Walter) Pillow of Gladys; two sisters-in-law, Paige and Marion Garrett; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Eunice Crews and three brothers, Robert, Charlie, and Garland Garrett.

Herbert will be remembered as a school bus driver and for his welcoming smile and listening ear to the diners at local restaurants and the Lynchburg Livestock Market. He never met a stranger and he cared deeply for each person that God bought across his path. He will be missed by many.

Funeral services will be held 11:00a.m., Saturday, July 14, 2012, at Evergreen Baptist Church by Dr. Chris King and Rev. Ron Nickell. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church and other times at the home of Martha and Fleming Moore, Piney Mountain Road.
