Henry Lawrence Hodges, 92, of Pamplin was called home to his Lord and Savior surrounded by his family on Monday, September 26, 2022, at his residence. He was the husband of the late Mary Annie Baldwin Hodges.

Born in Evergreen on October 3, 1929, he was the son of the late Thomas Jefferson Hodges and Ruby Mae Hodges. He served his country for 12 years in the National Guard. He retired as a mechanic from Pamplin Exxon.  Lawrence loved his family and being home. He was the happiest when he was outdoors mowing his grass and watching wild animals.

He is survived by two children, Lester Hodges and wife, Stephanie and Donna Joy and husband, Barry both of Appomattox; four grandchildren, Brittany Barney and husband, Brandon, Lauren Brown and husband, Justin, Monica Bennett and husband, Dalton, and Derick Hodges and wife, Erin; six great- grandchildren, Taegan and Silas Barney, Harper and Graham Brown, and Kennedy and Hadley Bennett; two sisters, Carrie Morris of Richmond and Ann Phillips of Pamplin; a brother-in-law, David Garrett; and a sister-in-law, Betty Hodges.

He was preceded in death by one brother, William T. "Billy" Hodges; two sisters, Elizabeth R. "Liz" Mobley and Shirley Garrett; and two brothers-in-law, David Phillips and Curtis Morris.

A graveside service will be held at 11 am, Thursday, September 29, 2022, at Evergreen Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Slaughter officiating.

The family would like to express heartfelt thanks for the wonderful care of Lawrence given by Centra Hospice, Diann, Marcella, Appomattox Aging Well Health and Wellness, and Dana.
