Helen Faye Torrence Coleman, 89, of Horseshoe Road, Appomattox, died Tuesday night July 2, 2013 at her residence. She was the wife of Raymond Abbitt Coleman for 67 years.
Helen Faye was born in Appomattox County on March 6, 1924 a daughter of the late Bessie Mitchell and Henry Augustus (Gus) Torrence. She was employed by the Appomattox County School System and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Nelwyn Morris and her husband, Arthur; Keith Coleman and his wife, Fay all of Appomattox; three grandchildren, Adam Morris and special friend, Lindie Honsberger, Sara Almond and her husband, Donnie, Ryan Coleman and his wife, Ashley; great-grandchildren, Dagan Almond, Coleman Almond, Sawyer Almond, Kenleigh Coleman and two yet to be born Baby Almond and Trafton Coleman; two nieces, Sandra Martin and Ann Barton Grigg and two great-nieces, Julie Burge and Roxanne Merkle.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Catherine T. Robertson and Annie T. Ellett.
The family will receive friends at the residence at any time.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M Friday July 5, 2013 at New Hope Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Ron Moore, Ronald C. Spiggle and Kent Hancock.
