Helen Martin Thompson, 71, of Shore Line Drive, Lynchburg, died Tuesday, August 28, 2012 in the Carrington. Born in Spout Spring, VA, on January 11, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Rebecca Harris and James Allen Martin, Sr.
Helen retired from Lynchburg Wholesale Floral Corporation after 50 years of dedicated and fulfilling service. She was a graduate of Phillips Business College and was a member of Salem United Methodist Church for over 50 years.
She is survived by two sons, Bobby Thompson and Michael Thompson both of Lynchburg; three grandchildren, Winston, Michelle, and Vivian Thompson; a sister, Ann Harrup and husband, Kurt of Lynchburg; two brothers, James A. (Jimmy) Martin and wife, Wanda of Spout Spring and Robert H. Martin of Appomattox; a very dear and caring aunt, Louise Dillon; longtime friends, Virginia Kerns and Karen Berry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 2, 2012, in Salem United Methodist Church, 4339 Salem Road, Spout Spring by Dr. Tom Bryant. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home, Appomattox from
5-6:30 p.m. Saturday.
