Helen McCormick Scott, 97, of Appomattox passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Robert I. "Scottie" Scott, Jr.

Born in Appomattox County, on November28, 1925, she was the last surviving of eight children to the late Willie McCormick and Nettie Ferguson McCormick. She was a lifelong and oldest member of Liberty Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Michael Scott (Michelle Copenhaver) and Mark (Renee) Scott; five grandchildren, Niki (Jeremy) McCormick, Josh Scott, Daniel Scott, Justin (Ashley) Scott, and Christopher Scott; four great-grandchildren, Kaylyn and Sydney McCormick, Harper and Emery Scott; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including special friends, Martha Morris and Luella Coleman.

A graveside funeral service officiated by Rev. Rusty Small will be held at 2 pm, Sunday, April 16, 2023, at Liberty Cemetery.

The family would like to thank all the neighbors for the many acts of kindness and caring. A special thanks to Michelle "Missie" Copenhaver for Nana's care in the end, along with Babcock Manor and the nurses at Lynchburg General Hospital.
