Helen G. Lewis, 68, of Snapps Mill Road, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at her residence. She was the loving wife of G. Luther Lewis for 50 years.

Born in Appomattox, December 19, 1947 she was a daughter of Annie Goin Garrett and the late Henry Allen Garrett. Helen was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. After graduating high school she went to work at J.A. Burke Insurance Company, and then moved to the Appomattox Treasurer's office where she served as Deputy Clerk until her retirement.

In addition to her husband she is survived by a daughter, B. Renee Lewis of Spout Spring; one brother, John Garrett and wife, Dawn of Appomattox; one sister, Brenda Primm and husband, Earl of Appomattox; numerous nieces and nephews; three brother-in-law's, Ray Lewis and wife, Carolyn, John Lewis and wife, Barbara, Bill Lewis and wife, Carla; two sisters-in-law, Katherine Poole and Nancy Lewis; and her beloved dog Axel.

A funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Robinson Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Worley officiating. Burial will follow in Bethany Pentecostal Holiness Church.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the residence of her sister-in-law, Katherine Poole, 3473 Horseshoe Road, Appomattox, VA.
