Helen Burnette Harvey, 91, of Rustburg, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2023. She was the wife of the late Bobby R. Harvey.

Born in 1931, she was the youngest child of the late James E. Burnette, Sr. and Clementine A. Burnette. Helen was a graduate of E.C. Glass High School, Randolph-Macon Woman's College, and Longwood College. She had a long and dedicated career in education as a teacher, guidance counselor, assistant principal, and instructional supervisor. After retiring from Lynchburg City Schools, she served as Director of the Virginia School of the Arts. Helen was a member of Rustburg Presbyterian Church.

Preceded in death by her parents, nine siblings, and beloved husband, Helen is survived by her sister, Kathleen "Pete" Burnette; her four sons, Doug Harvey (Debbie), Tim Harvey (Rick), David Harvey (Phyllis) and Paul Harvey (Kendra); three grandsons, Eric, Brian, and Keith Harvey; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Please know that she loved all of you very much.

The family wishes to thank the emergency medical technicians with Campbell County Public Safety, and the staff at Lynchburg General Hospital, for their compassionate care.

A private family memorial service is planned for the future.
