Obituary

Herbert S. Gibson, Sr., 91, died Saturday, December 8, 2007 at Fair Oaks Hospital in Fairfax. He was the husband of the late Lula Drinkard Gibson, who was a daughter of the late J. Berkley and Margaret Littell Drinkard.
Born January 23, 1916, in Charlottesville, he was a son of the late Ernest Lee and Clara Robertson Gibson. Herbert enlisted in the Marines on August 6, 1937, in Macon, Georgia, and served during World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. In 1967, he retired at Quantico. After retirement, he worked another 30 years with the Quantico Base Facilities Department. Mr. Gibson was a Mason and a Past Master of John A. LeJeune Lodge #350 A.F & A.M., Quantico, VA.
He is survived by two sons, Herbert S. (known as "Mike") Gibson, Jr. and his wife, Joyce of Smyrna, GA and Kenneth B. Gibson of Lutz, FL; a sister, Helen Brooks and a step-sister, Helen DePriest both of Charlottesville.
Graveside funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, December 14, 2007, in the Drinkard Family Cemetery.
