Obituary

Hazel Kress Johnson, 82, died Sunday, June 30, 2013 in Heritage Hall Nursing Home, Dillwyn.

Born in Chilhowie, Va., on April, 9, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Amos Lee Kress and Vina Casell Kress. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Joseph "J.P." Pitzer Johnson, Jr.; three sisters, Marie K. Ball, Virginia Cox and Pauline Gunter. Hazel was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Appomattox, a homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by a son, Joseph S. Johnson and his wife, Debra, Rustburg; a daughter, Rebecca "Becky" J. Asal and her husband, Phillip, Farmville; Sister-in-Law, Shirley J. Martin and her husband, Milton, Lynchburg; Brother-in-Law, Garland F. Johnson, Rustburg; four granddaughters, Heather Marcus and her husband, Joey, Angela Johnson, Denise Mozingo and her husband, Michael, Meredith Koebel and her husband, Brandon; four great-grandchildren, Tyler and Ethan Marcus, Caleb and Nolan Mozingo, and Natalie Koebel.

The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm, Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. Ernie Lucas and Rev. Doug Adams, with burial following in Liberty Cemetery.
