Concord – Mrs. Hazel Thompson Bennett, 80, of 11000 Spring Mill Road, Concord, died Thursday morning December 15, 2005 in Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Claude Anderson Bennett.
Mrs. Bennett was born in Lynchburg on February 20, 1925 a daughter of the late Herman Conway and Edna Cardwell Thompson. Hazel was a graduate of Concord High School; a former employee of Craddock-Terry Shoe Company; a homemaker; member of Union Hill Baptist Church and a retired employee of the Campbell County School System.
She is survived by a son, Kim Anderson Bennett and his wife, Barbara of Concord; four daughters, Claudia Bennett Moore of Forest; Nancy Bennett Helms and her husband David of Stuart, VA; Vivian Bennett Mitchell and her husband Bryan of Lynchburg; Cheryl Bennett Guthrie and her husband Ronnie of Concord; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Moore Bannister and her husband David; Kristen Moore Shaddock and her husband Drew; Nichole Renee Bennett and Paula Ashley Snead; 1 great-grandchild, Andrew William Shaddock, II; a sister-in-law, Mary T. Barksdale of Red House and a brother-in-law, Roy Bennett of Concord.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Nell T. Tolley.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday December 18, 2005 at Union Hill Baptist Church at 2:00 P.M. by the Rev. Cliff Jordan and the Rev. John Jackson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home from 4-6:00 P.M. on Saturday and at other times at the home of Ronnie and Cheryl Guthrie, 5240 New Chapel Road, Concord.
