Harry Eugene Ranson, 68, of Rocks Church Road, Pamplin, died Saturday April 12, 2014 at his home. He was preceded in death by his wife Joan Moses Ranson of over 45 years.
Harry was born on July 25, 1945 in Appomattox, VA, a son of the late Rachel Inge Ranson and Harry Wilson Ranson. He was a long time member of Woodman of the World and an active member of Rocks Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher and deacon for many years. Harry was a Civil Engineering Graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a long time employee of Moses Motor Company and Cardinal Chevrolet and retired from Ranson's Inc. RadioShack.
Harry is survived by three sisters and brothers-in-law, Louise R. Roach and Aulden, Mary Edith R. Morris and Glenn, Ruth R. Caldwell and Bill; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Frank R. Ranson, Michael E. Ranson and Betty all of Pamplin; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Linda Jo Mays and Monte, Janet S. Moses and Liz all of Appomattox, and Charles T. Moses, III and Linda of Reston; Uncle Harry's children were his nieces and nephews, Cindy & Bill Shorter, Debbie & Jimmy Lakes, Ken & Sarah Caldwell, Susan & Craig Smith, Patty & Randy Rimbey, Billy & Gina Caldwell, Amy Martin, Jennifer & Russel Walton, Otis Ranson and Jennifer Layne, Amanda Ranson, Wade & Nicole Mays, Thomas Mays; great nieces and nephews, Angela & Robert Page, Jeremy & Kristin Lakes, Beverly & Stuart Vyule, William Shorter, Rachel Lakes, Kathryn Shorter, Earl Rimbey, Rebekah Shorter, Kayia DeVivo, Grayson Rimbey, Hannah Caldwell, Harry Caldwell, Jordan Camille Martin, Elijah DeVivo, Colleen Caldwell, Kendall Caldwell, Josey Walton, Leah Caldwell, Ethan Walton, Madeline Mays, Noah Mays; great-great nephews, Elijah Lakes, Ryker Page and many other children that were not related but were very dear to Uncle Harry.
An outdoor memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm, Monday, April 14, 2014 at the home of Mike and Betty Ranson in Pamplin officiated by Rick Painter. The family will receive friends anytime at the home of Mike and Betty, 2567 Rocks Church Rd Pamplin, VA.
