Harry Burnell "Skip" Lyons, 76, of Bear Creek Road, Red House, died Saturday, February 20, 2016, in Lynchburg General Hospital from complications of Lewy Body Dementia. He was the husband of Lola Mae Beadle Lyons for 35 years.
Born in Setauket, N.Y., on May 7, 1939, he was the son of the late Margaret Joan Fulford and Irving Lyons. He retired from Bassett Health Care after 23 years. He was a past member of the Fly Creek Volunteer Fire Department where he served as Fire Chief and also a past member of the Wanderers Car Club. Skip gave many hours of his time to Habitat for Humanity of Citrus County, Florida after his retirement.
In addition to his wife he is survived by three sons, David Lyons and wife, Janette, Gary Lyons, and Chad Lyons; three daughters, Melanie Huntington and husband, Jim, Diana Graham and husband, Bob, and Brandi Lyons; a brother, William Lyons and wife, Thea; a sister, Margaret Weed; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to his caregiver, Josephine Rago and to the staff at Centra Health's Pulmonary Unit.
Friends are welcome to come by Skip's home on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 to reflect on his life.
