Harold M. Solliday Jr., 55, of Appomattox, VA, passed away on Sunday April 19, 2009. Harold was born August 19, 1953 to the late Harold M. Solliday Sr. and Pearl Hillegas Solliday of Quaker Town, PA.
Prior to moving to Appomattox, Harold resided in New Jersey, where he was a member of the Phillipsburg Fire and Rescue Squad. In 1991, he received a heart transplant that gave him the gift of life for another eighteen years.
His memory will be kept alive forever in the hearts of his loving wife of 35 years, Dorothy Totten Solliday; four sons, Phillip Brian and his wife Judy, Brian Keith, Kevin Scott and his wife Kimberly, and Thomas James; and his four grandchildren, Caitlin Victoria, Hailey Grace, Kevin Scott Jr. and Destiny Marie Solliday.
Harold is also survived by his four brothers; Terry and his wife Sarah, Richard and his wife Dawn, William, and Kenneth and his wife Mary. In addition he is survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Harold enjoyed being with his family and friends, working on cars, hunting and fishing with his boys. He was always there with a huge smile, ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. He was easy going and made friends where ever he went. Harold was a loving husband, excellent father and the best "Pop Pop" in the "whole wide world" to his grandchildren. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends Friday, April 24 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Robinson Funeral Home, Appomattox, VA.
The Solliday family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and support. Memorials may be sent to The American Heart Association.
