Obituary
Harold Francis Hing, 75, of Red House, Va, passed away April 20, 2013 in Lynchburg General Hospital, after a short illness.
He was born in Hackettstown, NJ to the late Lemuel and Ethel Mendzie Hing. Also preceded in death by his beloved Grandpa Hing, brother Donald Hahnes and grandson Christopher Hing.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Joyce Nunn Grabowski Hing; his daughters Carol (Ralph) Blatterspiel, Margaret (Mel) McMurray both of AZ, Cathryn (Jack) Cory, Patricia White both of PA, Barbara Hing of NJ; sons, Harold (Bertha) Hing of NM, Edward Hing and Robert Hing of NJ; stepsons, Timothy Grabowski of TN and Daniel (Gayle) Grabowski of NJ; brother Robert (Victoria) Hing of SC; sister-in-law Sally Hahnes and Natalie White both of NJ; brother-in-law Gary (Marlene) Nunn of Delaware; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, mother of his children, Joan LaBar Hing, 5 nieces and nephews.
Harold worked various farm-related jobs prior to working 36 years as a welder/mechanic for Operating Engineers Local 825 of Springfield NJ. He also served as Assistant Chief and Fireman for the Independence Township Volunteer Fire Department. Harold and Joyce retired to Red House 16 years ago on the farm to have a cow/calf operation in an area he called "Home". He had a great respect and love of God, family and nature (hunting/fishing). He loved life, lived life fully, and loved to teach and mentor everyone and shared his life stories with all who wanted to listen.
A viewing will be held one hour prior to a mass of Celebration Of Life at 11:00am at Our Lady Of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Appomattox, VA on Saturday, April 27, 2013. A memorial celebration will be held later at the convenience of the family in New Jersey.
