Harold Paul (Mr. B)Burgess, 88, of Nippon Loop, Lynchburg, died Saturday morning, June 7, 2014, in Guggenheimers Health and Rehabilitation. He was the husband of Doris JoAnn Pugh Burgess for 30 years.
Born in Red Key, Indiana on December 24, 1925, he was a son of the late Mary Smith and Porter Burgess. He served his country in the US Army during WW II and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Burgess was a member of Central Baptist Church and a retired sky chef for American Airlines. He was a bus driver for Lynchburg City Schools, Sonny Merryman, Inc., and the Lynchburg Bus Service. He owned Burgess Commercial Cleaning for 12 years.
In addition to his loving wife he is survived by a daughter, Stephanie Weigand and husband, Willie of Lynchburg; four grandchildren, Nici Campbell, Kim Smith and husband, Paul, Deborah Weigand, and Slade Simpson; a great granddaughter, Kylee Smith; a sister, Doris Joan Mills of Texas; and the mother of his children, Shirley.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dave; brother, Everett; and a sister, Ethel May Main.
The family requests no food or flowers and that donation be made to the Lynchburg Humane Society, 3305 Naval Reserve Rd., Lynchburg VA 24501; in memory of his beloved cats, Timidator and Teddy Bear. He will be missed my his other cats, Sweety Pie and Sunshine.
A private service will be held at a later date.
