Gwendolyn Fay Rountree, age 91, was called home on the morning of October 7th, 2023, at her home in Appomattox, Virginia. Her departure was serene and swaddled in the reverence of her beloved family.

Gwendolyn, otherwise known as Fay, was born on December 15th, 1931, to Moses and Lillian Chamblee in Norfolk, Virginia. She attended Maury High school and had her first date with her future husband, Walter Leslie Rountree, at the infamous Doumar's Barbecue.

Fay is predeceased by her parents, her sister, Ruth and her husband, Walter. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy, her brother, Larry, her children, Pat, Diana, and Nancy, her eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren and countless friends.

A memorial service for Gwendolyn Fay Rountree will be held at 5:00 pm on Friday, October 20th at Bible Baptist Church with dinner to follow. The church address is 297 Bible Baptist Road, Appomattox VA, 24522.
