Appomattox: Grover Cleveland Smith, Jr., 83, of Rt. 2, died Sunday, November 20, 2005 in Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Carrie Ruth Banton Smith.
Born in Williamson, WV, he was a son of the late Grover C. Smith Sr. and Hallie Elizabeth Wilhoit Smith. Mr. Smith was a member of Grace Hills Baptist Church, an Army Veteran of WW II, and a retired employee of Westinghouse Electric.
In addition to his wife, Ruth, he is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Rose M. and Albert L. Marcum of Roanoke and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth E. Smith and a brother Alonzo D. Smith.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. Wes Williams. Burial will follow in the Hollywood Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday one hour prior to the service.
