Graydon Christian "G.C." Martin, 95, of Coleman Mills Road, Gladstone, died Thursday, April 4, 2019 at Babcock Manor. He was the devoted husband of the late Eloise Moore Martin with whom they shared their lives together for 64 years.

Born in Appomattox County, December 24, 1923, he was a son of the late Mary Adams and Edward Kinckle Martin. G.C. was a lifelong member of Mount Comfort United Methodist Church where he served as a greeter. He retired from the United States Postal Service and was also a tobacco and beef cattle farmer.

He is survived by 12 nieces and nephews; Mary Martens and husband, Steve, Beverly M. Anderson and Cathy, Edward H. Anderson and Fran, Mary Lou Torrence and husband, Ronnie, Lucy Harris and husband, Ernest, Anne Robinson and husband, Richard, Luella Coleman, Terrell Martin and wife, Judy, Joan McKenney and husband, Jim, Robin Martin, John Martin and wife, Tiffany, Sara Wilkerson and husband, Michael, and Carolyn Thompson and husband, Billy; numerous great-nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, LaFaye Martin of Gladstone and Jean Nash of Appomattox.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Marjorie M. Anderson, and Sallie M. Martin; four brothers, E. Carter Martin, Robert K. Martin, John A. "Jack" Martin, and Beverly K. Martin; and two nephews, Chesterman Anderson, Jr., and Kinckle Martin.

A funeral service will be held 3 p.m., Monday, April 8, 2019, at Mount Comfort United Methodist Church with Rev. John Flood officiating. Burial will follow in the Martin Cemetery.

The family will receive friends following the service.
