Obituary
Gordon John Armitage, 89, of Wheeler's Spring Road, Appomattox, died Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Jeanette "Jinx" Cacciatore Armitage.
Born in Hastings on the Hudson, New York, on June 24, 1927, he was a son of the late Anne Murdoch and John Armitage. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps and a retired CPA.
He is survived by two daughters, Gail A. Hunter and husband, Sam of Red House, VA and Leslie Armitage of Farmingdale, NJ; a son, Glenn John Armitage and wife, Laura of Evans, GA; a brother, Melvin Edward Armitage of Appomattox, VA; six grandchildren, Stacey Armitage Normand and husband, Chris, Lisa Armitage Franzman and husband, Mark, Joan Armitage Hunter Armstrong and husband, Tim, Matthew Baker Hunter and wife, Bethany W., Melissa Rosen, and Libby Arbanas; and eight great-grandchildren.
There will be a private interment service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Concord Presbyterian Church, c/o Brenda Gowin, 2089 Old Evergreen Rd., Appomattox, VA 24522.
