GLENN S. MARTIN, SR.

Evergreen, Va: Glenn Samuel Martin, Sr. 85, passed away Friday night, March 10, 2006 after a short illness.
The son of the late Hunter F. Martin and Lockie B. Maxwell Martin he was born in Appomattox Co., Va. August 24, 1920.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Jane Martin and his brother, Fred H. Martin.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Ophelia Self Martin. Also he leaves behind two sons, Glenn Samuel Martin, Jr., Limestone, Tenn. and James Warren Martin and his wife, Sylvia, Lynchburg, Va; three grandsons, Robert "Bob" Martin and his wife Chrissy, Paul B. Martin and his wife, Robin and Nicholas James Martin; one granddaughter, Victoria Jean Martin; two great grandchildren, Justin and Josie Peeler.
Mr. Martin was a life long member of Rocks Baptist Church, Pamplin, Va, where he served as a deacon and trustee until his death. He was also a charter member of Evergreen Ruritan Club and served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy. Also he was a life long tobacco farmer and Crop Measurement surveyor for the USDA for 65 years. He retired after 13 years from Babcock and Wilcox in 1982.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, March 13, 2006 at Rocks Baptist Church by the Rev. Chris Harbin with burial following in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home, Appomattox, Va., from 7:00 to 8:30 PM tonight (Sunday) and other times at the residence.
