Glenda Simmons White, 71, of Cypress Court, Evergreen, died Sunday, September 9, 2018, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of Harold Ray White.
Born in Lynchburg, Va., on April 18, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Carrie Mayberry and Clarence Burnette Simmons. She was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church. Glenda baby set many children in the Evergreen Community and at one time worked for Appomattox Garment Factory.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughter, Angie White of Shiloh, N.C.; one granddaughter, Meadow Dyke; a sister, Irene Austin and husband, James of Concord; two brothers, H. Franklin Simmons and wife, Maxine of Richmond and J. Henry Simmons of Evergreen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary W. Wood and Gray Johnson and a brother, Wade Simmons.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. David Heerspink. A private burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, from 7 until 8:30 p.m. and other times at the residence.
