Gladys Ranson Anderson, 99, of Pamplin died Friday, March 22, 2013, after a brief illness at the residence of her nephew, Charlie Goodman and Beverly Ranson. She was the wife of the late Jesse James Anderson.
Born in Appomattox County, on July 28, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Goodman Henry Ranson and Alma Cawthorne Ranson. She was a member of Rocks Baptist Church and the Eastern Star and retired from Macy's Department Store.
She is survived by two nieces, Carolyn Wilkes of Bedford and Janice Bryson of Richmond; two nephews, Bill Ranson of Richmond and Charlie Goodman Ranson of Pamplin; numerous great nieces and nephews who she viewed as her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Annie Elizabeth Ranson and Emma Lou Ranson and a brother, Charlie Calvin Ranson.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Rocks Baptist Church by the Rev. Tom Jones and Dr. William Tomlinson with burial following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home on Saturday from 7-8:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Rocks Baptist Church, 393 Rocks Church Rd., Pamplin, VA 23958.
