Retired Captain George Moorman Morris, Jr., 83, of Appomattox, passed away Monday, August 24, 2015, in Sunrise of Richmond Assisted Living.
Born in Campbell County, Va., on May 2, 1932, he was a son of the late Nannie Kerr and George Moorman Morris, Sr. He was a US Navy Veteran, a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and the Appomattox Lion's Club. George retired as a Captain with the Virginia State Police after 40 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Martha Pollok Morris of Appomattox; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindee M. and Randy Roach, Nancy M. and Ed Lawrence and two granddaughters, Courtney and Haley Lawrence all of Richmond.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home from 7-8:30 p.m., on Wednesday, August 26, 2015.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, August 27, 2015, at Memorial United Methodist Church, 403 Court Street, Appomattox; officiated by the Rev. Dr. William H. Pollok, the Rev. Russell Cheatham, and Captain Paul Kvasnicka. Burial will follow at 2:30 pm. in Wesleybury United Methodist Church Cemetery, 3071 Theta Mill Rd., Gladys, VA.
