GEORGE ALBERT "BERT" JOLY, 84, of Bethel, NC, formerly of Appomattox, VA went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 19, 2014.

He is survived by his son, George Joly, Jr. of Newport, VA; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl J. and Frederic W. Whitehurst of Bethel, NC; granddaughter, Jamie Jharna Whitehurst of Charlotte, NC; a sister and brother-in-law and niece, Marie Ann and Steve Battel of Denver, NC and Jennifer Jones of Cary, NC; sister-in-law, Carole Joly of Harrison Township, MI; and other relatives including nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, friends and special care givers, Carolyn Ward of Farmville, NC and Veronica Barnes of Winterville, NC.

He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Phoebe Lucille Woodson Joly; his parents, Albert and Eva Joly; brothers, Kenneth and Gerald Joly; and sister, Virginia Prevost.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Robinson Funeral Home followed by a celebration of his life officiated by Rev. Kathy Shereda at 7:00 PM in the chapel.
Interment will be on Monday, September 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM at New Hope Baptist Church cemetery, 6227 Old Courthouse Road, Appomattox, VA.
