GEORGE ALLEN HAWLEY
Appomattox- George Allen Hawley, 91, a long time resident of Spout Spring, died Wednesday afternoon, April 6, 2005 at the home of his granddaughter, Bonnie Johnson, 100 Woodchuck Drive. He was the husband of the late Mary Louise Turner Hawley.
Mr. Hawley was born in Spout Spring July 28, 1913, a son of the late Lillian Elizabeth Garrett and Jefferies Cuttler Hawley. He was a member of Spout Spring Baptist Church, and was a retired employee of Norfolk & Western Railroad with 45 years service. He loved gardening and was an avid football and baseball Fan.
He is survived by a son, J.C. Hawley and his wife, Barbara of Suffolk; a sister, Margaret H. Miller of Appomattox; 3 grandchildren, Bonnie Johnson of Appomattox; Jefferies C. Hawley, Jr. of Lynchburg; and Shannon R. H. George and her husband, Richard of Virginia Beach and two great-grandchildren, Carter and Colby George
Mr. Hawley was preceded in death by his daughter, Lavana Lea Hawley Johnson Moore.
A graveside funeral service will be held Friday April 8, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. in Reedy Spring Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. George Kreidel.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home tonight (Thursday) from 7-8:30 P.M. and other times at the home of Bonnie Johnson.
