Obituary

George Clifton (Shine) Franklin, 79, of Lonesome Pine Lane, Appomattox, died Tuesday, November 25, 2008 in Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Gwendolyn Paulette Franklin.
Born in Appomattox County, May 15, 1929, he was a son of the late D. Julian and Edith Jamerson Franklin. Shine was a deacon and member of Evergreen Baptist Church, a member of the Woodmen of the World Lodge #71, and for over 60 years was a driver for Jamerson Bros. Trucking.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Paula F. and Keith Ferguson of Richmond; two grandchildren, Kevin Ferguson and wife, Shannon of Raleigh, NC and Megan P. Ferguson of Fredericksburg; a brother, Lawrence K. Franklin and wife, Helen of Blue Ridge; three sisters, Doris F. Dalton and husband, Avery, of Spout Spring, Anne F. Weakley of Appomattox, and Mildred Jean Dunnam and husband, Bobby of Spout Spring; and ten nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, November 29, 2008, in Evergreen Baptist Church by Dr. Chris King and Rev. Robert C. Wilson. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8:00pm at Evergreen Baptist Church.
