George McGregor Evans, Sr., 95, of Concord, died Sunday, July 15, 2018, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Frances Muse Evans.

Born in Lynchburg, Va., on January 11, 1923, he was a son of the late Agnes Irene McGregor Evans and Dr. William Harmon Evans. He was a member of New Concord Presbyterian Church and the Stonewall Antique Power Association. He was a lifelong member of Reedy Spring Masonic Lodge #203 A.F. & A.M. George was a retired Plant Manager with Siegwerk, an industrial equipment representative, and a farmer.

He is survived by a son, George M. "Greg" Evans, Jr. and wife, Vickie; a daughter, Ann Muse Evans and Junior Maddox; and a grandson, Christopher Thompson and wife, Hilary all of Concord.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister, William Harmon Evans, Jr., Sarah Agnes Henderson, Dr. Joseph Washington Evans, and Raymond Septimius Evans.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, July 19, 2018, at New Concord Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Janice Fraser and Rev. George Goodman. The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter, Ann.
