George Maupin Allen, Jr.

George Maupin Allen Jr., of Pamplin, Virginia passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Lynchburg General Hospital, at the age of 74, following a short illness.

He was born on April 10, 1951, to the late George Maupin Allen and Louise Baldwin Allen.

George dedicated his career to the garment industry, beginning with Star Children Garment Factory in Pamplin and Appomattox, Virginia, and later with Rare Editions in Amelia, Virginia, where he retired as plant manager in 2017 after 48 years of service.

George was also a passionate gardener and cook, often sharing his love of plants and food with his family and neighbors and most recently enjoyed sharing his love of gardening with his granddaughter Casey.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sandra West Allen; his daughter, Crystal Allen Vandegrift, and son-in-law, Brian Vandegrift; his granddaughter, Casey Vandegrift, and her husband, Chris Vandegrift; and his cherished fur babies, Roxy, Ginger, and Jessie.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his sister Phyllis Allen Thacker.

Following George’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral services.
