Fredrick Evan Thompson, 97, of Brookneal, died Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at his residence. He was twice widowed, the husband of the late Edna Blucher Thompson and the late Virginia Manley Thompson.
Born in Burkeville, January 5, 1921, he was a son of the late Irene Chandler and Evan Button Thompson. Fred was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church, and retired from GE as a maintenance Electrician. After retirement he enjoyed working on his family farm.
He is survived by three children; Evan B. Thompson and Mary Jo of Rustburg, Robert H. Thompson and Lynn of Brookneal and Judith Huff of Prospect; two sisters, Alta Evans of Appomattox and Mary Garrett of Evergreen; and eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers; Frank Chandler, George Thompson and Dan Thompson; three sisters, Amy Mosley, Elizabeth Thompson and Erma Blucher.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, June 15, 2018 at Robinson Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Lanham officiating. Burial will follow in Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30p.m., Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Robinson Funeral Home, and other times at the residence.
