Obituary

Frederick (Fred) Wallace Moore, 74, of Piney Mountain Rd. Appomattox, died Saturday, June 29, 2013 at his residence. He was the husband of Nancy Nelson Moore for 30 years.

Born in Appomattox County on June 1, 1939, he was a son of the late Carrie Emza Martin and Henry Cornelius (Hal) Moore. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a lifelong master carpenter. Fred was a US Marine Corps veteran and loved sports, hunting and the University of Virginia Cavaliers.

In addition to his wife, Nancy, he is survived by a son, Nelson Frederick Moore of Appomattox; a daughter, Charlotte M. Justis and husband Emory (Chip) of Forest; a brother, Cornelius (Shorty) Moore and wife Marty of Appomattox; two sisters, Mildred M. Schmutz and husband Tom of Concord and Nancy Moore-Jones of Richmond; three grandchildren, Nathan, Blake and Kinsley Justis; his mother-in-law, Carole Nelson of Appomattox; two brothers-in-law, Kenn Nelson and wife Elizabeth and Donn Nelson and wife Elizabeth all of Michigan; one uncle; four aunts; a lifelong friend, James Moore and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Moore and Houston Moore and a brother-in-law, Bill Jones.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 2, 2013 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the residence.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 3, 2013 in Trinity United Methodist Church by the Rev. Larry Mann. Burial will follow in the Moore Family Cemetery with military rites accorded by American Legion Post #104 and VFW #9855 combined honor guard.
