Obituary

Appomattox: Frank Allen Torrence, 80, of 3935 River Ridge Road, died Thursday, October 19, 2006 at his residence. He was the husband of Elizabeth (Betty) Ward Torrence.
Born in Appomattox County, October 14, 1926, he was a son of the late David Eugene and Hattie Drinkard Torrence. Allen was a veteran of the US Navy serving in World War II, a member of Liberty Baptist Church and the American Legion Post #104. He retired after 42 years of service from the Department of Transportation as a maintenance supervisor.
In addition to his wife, Betty, he is survived by seven children and their spouses, Frank and Janice Torrence, Delores and Kenneth Jones, Linda and Donnie Almond all of Spout Spring, Melinda and Rick Mitchell of Bristol, TN, Thomas and Tina Davis, David and Teresa Davis, and Donna and Scott Sayre all of Spout Spring; 19 grandchildren; six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Alfred, John and Charles Torrence, a sister, Fran Conner and a granddaughter, Brittany Leigh Mitchell.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm, Sunday, October 22, 2006 in Liberty Baptist Church by Dr. Rick Mitchell, the Rev. Daniel Dockery, and the Rev. David Torrence. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery with military rites accorded by American Legion Honor Guard #104.
The family will receive friends at the residence Saturday from 3-5:00 pm.
