Francis Leonard Flynn, Sr., 93, of Evergreen Avenue, died Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Appomattox Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of the late Mary Judith O'Brien Flynn.
Born in Waterloo, IA, May 5, 1923, he was a son of the late Lula Crain and Frank D Flynn. Francis was a member of the Appomattox Seventh Day Adventist Church and an avid farmer. He honorably served in the United States Army during WWII.
He is survived by a son, Dennis Flynn of Appomattox; a daughter, Kathy Lindsey and husband, Kenneth of Madison Heights; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Francis was preceded in death by a son, Leonard Flynn, Jr., a brother, Clifford Flynn and a sister, Jean Moore.
A Graveside Service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Liberty Cemetery with Pastor J.D. Surbaugh officiating. Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post #104 and VFW # 9855 combined honor guard.
The family will receive friends one hour prior at the cemetery.
