Obituary

Frances Ferguson Harris Walker, of Appomattox, went to be with the Lord on September 4, 2011. She was predeceased by her first husband, Emmett Harris, Sr.; her second husband, Gilford Walker.
Born on March 8, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Elisha Thomas and Hattie Bryant Ferguson of Appomattox. Frances was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and a retired seamstress working for both the Appomattox Garment Factory and Courtland Manufacturing.
She is survived by four children, Louise Calloway of Lynchburg, Dale Franklin of Vera, Emmett Harris, Jr. and wife, Wanda of Forest, and June Smith and husband, Matt of Chesterfield; 13 grandchildren, Ashlee Taylor Mitchell, Hannah Elizabeth Mitchell, Ian Hunter Smith, Carolyn Harris Shepherd, Kimberly Diane Harris, Elizabeth Harris Brooks, Tammie Calloway Pickering, Neil Spencer Calloway, Jr., Tina Calloway Wooldridge, Sue Calloway Reid, Brenda Franklin Mason, Donna Franklin Sams, Russell Franklin, Jr.; and 17 great grandchildren, Kathryn Harris Pickering, John Spencer Pickering, Reid Michael Pickering, Kathan McAlister Howell, Tucker Harris Reid, Maxwell Liam Calloway, Kai Alexander Calloway, Spencer Rennie Calloway, Samuel Emmett Shepherd, Carson Elizabeth Shepherd, Madison Sams, Skylar Sams, Courtney Mason, J.R. Mason, Russell Franklin, III, Harleigh Franklin, and Gunnar Nelson. She is also survived by her sister, Erma Page and husband, Mick of Appomattox; her brother, Oral Ferguson and wife, Christine of Vera; a special cousin, Erma Watson of Appomattox; and two sisters-in-law, Macca Lee Ferguson of Appomattox and Dot Ferguson of Gladstone. She was also predeceased by a son, Elisha T. (E.T.) Harris; three brothers, John T. Ferguson, Bobby A. Ferguson, and Lloyd T. Ferguson; and a sister, Doris Christine Ferguson.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 11 a.m. in New Hope Baptist Church, Vera, by the Rev. Ronnie Rogers. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends and relatives at Robinson Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 6 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home of her granddaughter, Donna Sams, 294 Little Bear Lane, Spout Spring.
