Floyd Lester Elliott, Jr., 83, of Ruckers Rd., Concord, died Saturday, January 22, 2011, in Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Helen Elizabeth Wise Elliott.
Born in Lynchburg, VA, on November 4, 1927, he was a son of the late Hattie Odell Neighbors and Floyd L. Elliott, Sr. He was a member of New Concord Presbyterian Church and served in the US Army. Mr. Elliott retired from Westover Dairy and was a self-employed paint contractor.
In addition to his wife he is survived by three children, Candace E. Ogden and husband, Larry of Madison Heights, Tammy E. Porterfield and husband, Ron, and Floyd L. (Mark) Elliott, III and girlfriend, Esther all of Concord; one brother and sister-in-law, Curtis and Betty Elliott of Lynchburg; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Pauline and Tom Marshall of Lynchburg and Joan and Earl Inge of Greensboro, NC; a brother-in-law, John Faulkner of Franklin, TN; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Patsy E. Faulkner.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 25, 2011, in New Concord Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Emily Larson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home, Appomattox today, Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, from 7-8:30 p.m. and other times at the residence.
