Evelyn Lackey Peterson, 85, of Promise Land Road, died November 25, 2017, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late William Charles Peterson, Sr.
Born in Greenbrier, Ark., on September 8, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Alice Noe and Arthur Lackey. She attended Central Baptist Church and was a former member of the Appomattox Young at Heart Club. Evelyn loved her grandchildren and enjoyed cross stitching and working crossword puzzles.
She is survived by a son, William C. "Charlie" Peterson, Jr. and wife, Betty of Appomattox; five grandchildren, Charley (Amy) Peterson, III, Tim (Lara)
Peterson, Dianne (William) Erb, Shannon (Josh) Benton, and Jessica (C.J.) Jordan; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Jane (Leonard) Lott of Hazen, Ark; a sister-in-law, Maxine Lackey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
A private burial will take place in Colonial Grove Memorial Park, Virginia Beach.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 1022 Commerce Street, Suite 3c, Lynchburg, VA 24504.
