Obituary

Appomattox: Evelyn Martin Moore, 84, loving wife, mother, and grandmother died Sunday, September 2, 2007 in Virginia Baptist Hospital.
Born in Appomattox County, May 6, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Maury Gibbs Martin and Lillian Drinkard Martin. She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Herbert Harding (H. H.) Moore, Jr., a son, F. L. (Teddy) Moore, and a great grandson, Brandon J. Moore.
Evelyn spent all of her life in Appomattox County. In 1946, she and her husband founded H. H. Moore Trucking Co. where she was still presiding as President at the time of her passing. She was a member of Mount Comfort United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
She will be sadly missed by her loving family, son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Sandy Moore of Appomattox; daughter-in-law, Patsy Moore of Appomattox; daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie Moore and Randall Rolfe of Forest; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Rita Moore of Lynchburg; 10 grandchildren, Jeff and Teresa Moore, Terry and Michael Hatcher, Todd and Christy Moore, Kelly and Brian Bevins, Kim and Chris Jones, Tanya and Brad Cummings, Joey and Brady Moore, Matt Moore, Sarah Clements, and Ashley Moore; 19 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, M. G. Martin, Jr. and Lelia and A. C. and Connie Martin both of Appomattox; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice and Larry Yeats of Crew, Barbara and Larry Whitehead of Pamplin and Geraldine and Frank Metz of Concord and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Larry Smith and to her caregivers, Barbara Woodson, Liz Fitch, Mattie Chambers, and Marie Quesenbury for the wonderful care they gave Evelyn.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 5, 2007 in Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert Thorne with burial following in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home Tuesday from 7-8:30 p.m. and at other times at the residence, 424 Oakville Rd., Appomattox.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial donations be made to the Appomattox Rescue Squad, PO Box 57, Appomattox, VA 24522 or Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church, 4901 Oakville Rd., Appomattox, VA 24522.
