Evelyn Blackwelder Honeycutt
Appomattox: Evelyn Estelle Blackwelder Honeycutt, 87, of Red House Road, died Sunday, September 7, 2008, at Medical Care Center. She and her husband, Robert McLean Honeycutt, would have celebrated 69 years of marriage on September 16 of this year.
Born in Rowan Co., NC, Evelyn was a daughter of the late James Vance and Effie Christie Blackwelder. She was a homemaker and a member of Memorial United Methodist Church. Evelyn was known for her good country cooking, canning, chicken and dumplings, and coconut cakes.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Faye Stratton, and her husband Thelbert, of Appomattox; Kay Jordan, of Richmond; Gay Cole, and her husband, Johnny, of Appomattox; two sisters, Sara B. Bostian, of Mooresville, NC, Hilda B. Hagans, of Salisbury NC; eight grandchildren, Bob Stratton, and his wife Stacey, Robin Wooten, and her husband Greg, Rebekah Midkiff and her husband Jacob, Kristy Lloyd and her husband Matthew, Mary Beth Jordan, Melany Jordan, Emily Cole, Katy Cole; and three great-grandchildren, Erika and Adam Wooten, and Holden Stratton. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Steven LeGrand Stratton and Jennifer Lynne Jordan, five brothers, and three sisters.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday September, 10, 2008, at Robinson Funeral Home, with Rev. Bruce Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday night September 9, 2008, from 7:00 until 8:30 at the funeral home, and other times at the residence.
