Obituary

Eva Phelps Marsh, 102, of Appomattox, passed away Friday, May 6, 2011 at Lynchburg General Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Howard Marsh; five sisters Weta Morris, Margaret Inge, Lillian Baker, Louise Wells, and Odell Phelps; and two brothers, Clyde Phelps and twin brother, Carlton Phelps.

Born in Appomattox County, on March 6, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Burl Phelps and Mary Gardner Phelps. She was a member of Red Oak Baptist Church and a retired seamstress for Appomattox Garment Company where she worked until she was eighty years old.

She was a blessing to all of her family and friends and will be truly missed.

She is survived by five nieces, Mrs. Lewis Moore (Daphine) of Gladstone, Mrs. E. B. Drinkard (Loretta), Mrs. Maynard Powell (Wanda), Mrs. Larry Odgen (Cheryl) all of Madison Heights and Nina Collins of Lynchburg; two nephews, Royal Wells, Jr. and wife, Dale and Wayne Wells of Gladstone.

The family wants to express their appreciation to Cecil Burks, Dianne Marsh, Wayne Wells, George and David Fox for being so good to Eva.

The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home on Sun. May 8, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 9, 2011, at Red Oak Baptist Church by the Rev. Thomas Barker with burial following in the church cemetery.
