Obituary

Eugene Lanier "Buck" Thompson, Sr., 80, of Double Bridges Road, Appomattox, died, Monday, February 5, 2018 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Mildred Fields Thompson.

Born in Appomattox County, September, 16, 1937, he was a son of the late Phyllis Godsey and Paul B. Thompson, Sr. Buck was a member of Spout Spring Baptist Church. He proudly served his country in the National Guard as 2 nd SGT during the Korean Conflict. As a young man Mr. Thompson worked with his parents at Parkway Restaurant. Later in life, Buck worked for the Lynchburg Foundry, Thomasville Furniture and as a newspaper carrier with the News and Advance.

He is survived by four children; Larry H. Johnson, Jr., and wife, Maria of Appomattox, Eugene "Gene" L. Thompson, Jr., of Red House, Emily Anne Thompson and Mark A. Thompson and wife, B.J., both of Appomattox; three sisters, Paula T. Moore of Gladstone, Phyllis Anne Thompson and Pamela Kay Thompson both of NY; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Spout Spring Baptist Church with Pastor Paul Kvasnicka officiating. Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery with military rites accorded by American Legion Post #104 and VFW #9855 combined honor guard.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
