Obituary

Eubelia Spencer Jobe, 96, formerly of Gladstone, died September 17, 2014 in Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was the wife of the late Horace David Jobe, Sr for 55 years.

Born in Lynchburg, August 30, 1918 she was a daughter of the late John and Mary Alice Miller Spencer. Eubelia was a long time member of Gladstone Memorial Baptist Church. She graduated from E.C. Glass High School June 15, 1936 and then graduated from Virginia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing September 1, 1940. She worked for a short period at Philadelphia Children's Hospital and returned to Virginia Baptist Hospital where she was a R.N. on the OB floor and nursery for over 30 years until she retired. Eubelia's house was always filled with aromas of her baking and cooking, especially her famous pound cake. She had a great love for knitting hats, afgans and baby clothes, the clicking of her knitting needles will be greatly missed. Eubelia loved animals and sheltered many strays.

She is survived by two sons, H. David Jobe, Jr., and wife Jane of Rice, John William Jobe and wife, Wanda of Appomattox; a daughter, Susan Walker and husband, David of Appomattox; five grandchildren, Jacob B. "Jake" Jobe and wife, Lindsay of Waynesboro, Steven C. Mason, Jr., and wife Kristin of Stafford, Zach K. Jobe and Aimee Lee of Appomattox, Mary Clifford Jobe, and Whitney M. Jobe both of Rice; one great grandchild, Christian Liam Jobe of Waynesboro; a special companion Charlie the cat.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Francis Hugo Spencer.

A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Robinson Funeral Home with Ronnie Spiggle and the Rev. Tommy Bryant officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the residence of John and Wanda Jobe.
