Etta Catherine Ranson Inge, 87, died Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at Runk and Pratt, Forest. She was the wife of the late Claiborne Inge for 54 years.
Born in the Evergreen community of Appomattox County on September 22, 1928, Etta was a daughter of the late Elizabeth (Betty) Martin and Samuel Calvin (Cal) Ranson. Etta was a lifetime member of Rocks Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School; hosted socials, most often for the youth and young adults; sang in the choir and occasionally played the piano; and participated in almost every event associated with the church. She worked at the Appomattox County School Board for almost 30 years and retired as Clerk of the School Board. She was a member of the Appomattox Chapter of the Eastern Star for over 50 years.
Etta is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Rita Gail Inge and Vic Fleet of Goode; and many nieces and two nephews. She loved all of her nieces, nephews, and their spouses and her many cousins and their children on both sides of her family.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, William Blass Ranson, S. Edward Ranson, and Boyd C. Ranson; and two sisters, Odelle R. Paulett and Isabelle R. Gowin.
The family would like to thank the many employees of Runk and Pratt, Forest, and of Valley View Retirement Community, Lynchburg, for their loving care and commitment to Etta during the last years of her life.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 20, 2016, at Rocks Baptist Church with Rev. Wes Williams and Rev. Rick Painter officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2016, at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the home of Rita and Vic Fleet of 6625 Charlemont Road, Goode.
