Estelle Pote Guthrie, 89, of Isbell Street, Appomattox, died Sunday, October 13, 2013, in Appomattox Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Clarence W. Guthrie, Sr.
Born in Lynch Station, VA, on September 8, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Margaret Alice Hale and Ira H. Pote, Sr. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. Estelle retired from Courtland Manufacturing.
She is survived by three sons, Clarence W. (Billy) Guthrie, Jr. and wife, Betty, John I. Guthrie and wife, Debbie, and David (Tadpole) L. Guthrie all of Appomattox; two grandchildren, Terry W. (Zeke) Guthrie and wife, Laura and Kristi G. Tweedy-White and husband, Brandon; and three great-grandchildren, Kelsie White, Jadon Tweedy, Chloe Guthrie, and Haleigh Tweedy.
She was preceded in death by six sisters, Goldie P. Sutphin, Daisy P. Clark, Elizabeth P. Eubank, Agnes P. Sherwood, Catherine P. Clegg, and Carrie Alice Pote and two brothers, Ira H. Pote, Jr. and Samuel C. Pote.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 17, 2013, at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. Russell Cheatham. Burial will follow in the Babcock Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home Wednesday, October 16, 2013 from 7-8:30 p.m. and other times at the home of John and Debbie Guthrie, 209 Dillon Drive.
